URGENT: Call Members of House & Senate Appropriations Subcommittees to Support the NAS Letter
On July 14th, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) sent a letter to Congress to reject the proposed FY26 science budget. As of July 30th, the letter has 1,320 signatures from NAS members, including 74 Nobel Laureates. Though they do not need more signatures, they urgently need people to call members of both the House and Senate Subcommittees for Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies. Please make your calls to support the letter, including your representatives as well as those outside your district. We recommend calling Senate Chair Shelley Moore Capito who is a swing vote, and Susan Collins who should be celebrated for her support.
Sign and Support the NASA Voyager Declaration
Over 350 current and former NASA employees have signed a letter known as the NASA Voyager Declaration to express their dissent to a landslide of horrific cuts to NASA's staff, funding, programming, and more. The letter was addressed to Sean Duffy, a former professional lumberjack and MTV personality with zero science background who incidentally was named NASA's Interim Director on July 9th. Please add your name to sign the letter and support the people who have actually worked at NASA.
Write a Letter to Your Alma Mater President
Please write a letter to the president of your college/university alma mater, urging them to protect your community and stand up for the principles of academic freedom. For bonus points, ask your fellow alumni to sign your letter. To get started, click on the word document icon and download our letter draft. Then, ask ten of your friends to do the same. Let's keep the chain going and encourage as many schools as possible to defend democracy!
